Madeline Westen

madeline-westenMadeline Westen played by Sharon Gless is Michael’s mother. She doesn’t fully know what Michael does, and constantly worries. She has a smoking habit, and is neurotic, constantly going to the doctor for different ailments she thinks she has.

She thinks that Michael and his father are just alike, and that Michael was the one that would agitate him, Michael strongly disagrees.

Madeline also keeps up with Fiona, often using her as a source of information for Michael.

Carla

carlaCarla was the person who apparently burned Michael so he would be forced to work for her organization. Little is known about her, other than the fact that she could speak Arabic with a Kurdish accent, and that she was stationed in Kurdistan with a cover identity as an irrigation consultant. It has not yet been revealed whether or not Carla personally burned Michael, or merely ordered it.

It is also unknown what her place in the organization she worked was, but it was likely that she was high up in the organization, though not the overall leader of it, as she was scared of what they would do to her if Michael kept stalling, as well as of Victor’s evidence showing that she abused her authority by issuing black ops missions for her own profit or petty reasons, such as traffic tickets. She was killed by Sam and Fiona at the end of season two after threatening to kill both Michael and Victor.

Nate Westen

nate-westenNate Westen is Michael’s gambling brother, who has a history of stealing and manipulating to fund his addiction. When Nate heard that Michael was back in town, he immediately tried to use him to get some money to pay off gambling debts.

Although he has skills at reading the faces of others to predict what they will do, he is also impulsive and poor at planning ahead. As of the second season he claims to have given up gambling and is trying to get his life together (the reason behind this being the epiphany he experienced after almost dying while helping Michael). His mother revealed to Michael that Nate idolized him as a child and feels that Michael does not like him and thinks he is better than Nate, which Nate himself also believes.

During Season 2, Nate is arrested for fraud after being framed by Carla.
